Use of spikes
When creating sand roses with the technique of paper napkin folding, we are interested in the hollows that are formed, hollow surrounded by pleated flaps.

If we turn over a sand rose, we naturally find the summits of the hollows. Under the effect of crumpling, they are like glued together. To give yourself other possibilities, simply separate these spikes. For example, the model « The Boarding School » that appears in the photos of this sheet was made from a sand rose like the one shown in yellow in the photos of the previous sheet, but the folds were reversed because the paper was two-color and that one only interested in the yellow color.

Download the document « Utilisation de pointes pour le pliage froissé », which shows in pictures the technique to follow:
- we start by separating the spikes slightly apart from each other, working gently to avoid tearing the paper,
- We tighten all the folding and we practice again a crumpling, to keep the folds,
- We start to separate the spikes down a little more inside the fold.
- By a succession of tightening, crumpling and loosening, we go down as little as possible until isolate more or less completely the tips.

It only remains to model each of the spikes to obtain beautiful bouquets, or ... everything that will pass through your fingers!
