Modulars |
Unlike multi-sheet folding, modular folding involves modules that all undergo the same folding. Each module is supposed to have one or two flaps to hang on one or two other modules, and one or two pockets to receive other modules. Some sets consist of dozens of modules. Knowing that it usually takes 2 to 10 minutes to fold a module, we understand that the making of a patchwork, a garland or a star can be devouring time and seem boring. The result is a nice reward! It was natural that using modules would lead to tessellations, mosaics or quilts. Beautiful compositions have thus emerged, within the reach of all hands, experienced or not. But there are also fields of stars, decorative objects or boxes. Incredible compositions were made by Dan Sutin . You will find two photos below. See also this video Il Condominio Pentagonale . Each assembly takes months of work! However, it is not necessary to use as many modules to create an intriguing work. See Alessandro Beber's « Impossible Triangle ». Three modules, 20 minutes of folding ... If you want to learn how to do it, EzOrigami has produced a video Origami Penrose Triangle (Alessandro Beber) . It requires a little attention, but it is understandable. The practice of modular folding is exciting, so modulate! |
