First geometric constructions
One of the magical aspects of paper folding is the ability to make geometric constructions without using the ruler or the compass.

Among the first constructions, folding along a parallel to a given direction, or perpendicular to one side, or even bisecting an angle are in common use.

Download the document « Constructions géométriques ». It gives indications for the following operations:
- create a fold passing through a given point and perpendicular to an edge of the sheet,
- create a fold passing through a given point and perpendicular to an existing fold,
- create a fold passing through a given point, parallel to an existing fold,
- create a fold drawing the bisector of an angle,
- create a fold dividing a right angle at a 60 ° angle and a 30 ° angle.

Take one or more sheets of paper, and practice doing these things. Look for the precision of the folds. Try to combine these folds to make more complex figures: a right triangle, an equilateral triangle, a rectangle trapezoid, ...
