Fauna
Some animals are strongly represented in this universe, for example the lion, the elephant, the cat, the horse. Others are more rare or nonexistent. What are the challenges for a creator of an animal model:
- choose between symbolic, suggestive or realistic,
- choose between simplicity or complexity of folding (more or less 100 folds, with or without depression, ...)
- choose between simplified modeling or predominant modeling.

For example, modern models present a completely closed animal, while the vast majority of folds proposed until then had an open belly ... See for example the penguin created by Nicolas Terry (first three photos of the page).

Sometimes the debate is only about the quality of the crease pattern!

Note however that the world of animals is enchanting, some models are incredibly beautiful. You can watch, for example, the video Paper World produced by WWF Hungary.
